On Thursday, May 8, 2025, Charter HCP proudly announced a significant milestone in our commitment to advancing resilience-focused investment. In partnership with the University of West London (UWL), we officially launched the Pritchard Centre for Resilient Venture Firms, a pioneering initiative designed to support and scale ventures that build long-term societal resilience.

This landmark event was hosted at UWL’s Ealing campus and marked by a formal signing ceremony. Our Director, Terry Pritchard, signed the agreement to launch the centre, with a powerful introduction delivered by Professor Peter John CBE, the Vice Chancellor and President of UWL. The evening was filled with optimism and vision, attended by leaders in finance, innovation, academia, and impact investment.

A Vision for Resilient Innovation

In his keynote address, Terry Pritchard articulated the ethos driving the centre’s formation:

“In a volatile, uncertain world, resilience is the currency that will determine who thrives and who falters. Innovation, when it’s purpose-driven, inclusive and built for the long term, is the engine of resilience—enabling societies, businesses, and economies to adapt, recover and thrive in the face of disruption.”

This ethos forms the cornerstone of the centre’s mission: to equip bold and innovative enterprises with the financial readiness needed to scale solutions that foster resilience. By bridging the critical gap between visionary ideas and accessible capital, the centre aims to catalyse sustainable growth, inclusive innovation, and long-term stability across multiple domains.

A Purpose-Driven Approach to Global Challenges

The Pritchard Centre will empower enterprises that tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our time, including:

  • Climate change and environmental resilience

  • Healthcare and pandemic preparedness

  • Food security and sustainable agriculture

  • Disaster risk management

  • Financial inclusion

  • Cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection

  • Social and community resilience

By advancing the investment readiness of such ventures and supporting the development of resilience-building technologies, the centre will play a vital role in shaping a future where innovation serves the broader good.

ANCHORED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH UWL

The centre is proudly anchored within the University of West London, a distinguished institution recognised for its strong industry partnerships, applied research excellence, and unwavering commitment to social impact. With access to UWL’s multidisciplinary expertise in business, technology, healthcare, food innovation, and sustainability, the Pritchard Centre is uniquely positioned to translate innovation into measurable impact.

This collaboration reflects Charter HCP’s broader strategy to integrate rigorous financial stewardship with mission-driven growth. Together with UWL, we are building a platform that nurtures ideas capable of transforming industries and uplifting communities - an embodiment of our belief that finance, when directed wisely, is a force for resilience and positive change.
